What I did: With much trepidation, I took part in the 30th BUPA Great North Run and ran (and walked a fair bit) for 13.1 miles in aid of Butterwick Hospice. It was a hard slog in the rain but very inspirational and I've even signed up for next year!
What we did: A way to the Cynergy team's heart is through chocolate (or anything sweet!). So imagine our delight, when a local hospice dropped in numerous tubes of Smarties for us to dig into - all they asked for was the promise of filling the empty tubes with 20p coins.
Fiona's Race for Life
Charity: Cancer Research
Name: Fiona Barnes
What I did: I ran 5K for Race for Life with all the female members of my family in memory of my grandad. I am not a natural runner but really enjoyed the race and I am now thinking of doing the Great North Run next year!
Worlds Biggest Coffee Morning
Charity: Macmillan Cancer Support
Name: Cynergy Team
What we did: Luckily we have our fair share of bakers in the team (including our Mum's!) so we embraced the coffee morning event with lots of homemade cakes and cups of tea whilst making our individual contributions to a worthwhile cause!
What I did: I decided to take advantage of my nearest and dearest being altogether and organised a collection during my wedding church service to raise money for 2 charities close to my family's heart.
What We did: To raise money for Kidney Research UK a few of us (girls!) went along to a local charity evening - an outdoor showing of the all-time classic film Dirty Dancing.
We took everything but the kitchen sink – the only thing we didn’t take was the good weather! Unfortunately it wasn’t kind to us and we got pretty wet, but we didn’t let it dampen our spirits and had a fab night!
